Quake II in the browser

The source reply’s Quake II link leads to q2.pieter.com, which presents “Real Quake II in your browser” — a non-commercial, unofficial preservation project. It is a multiplayer destination, not a promise of the full campaign.

Source / setup review

A preservation host, not an id Software service.

The page identifies FTE QuakeWorld as the engine and describes sessions of up to eight players with no install. These are host statements; we have not joined a match.

What the page documents

  • A play entryThe page carries a play button and a public player leaderboard with 24-hour and all-time views.
  • No install stepThe host states the game runs in the browser. First load still transfers the engine and game data, so give it time.
  • Eight-player sessionsThe eight-player figure is the host’s own description. Server population at any given moment is not guaranteed.

Has Radiant Guide tested the gameplay?

No. We verified the project identity, its engine statement and its published instructions on October 13, 2026. Match quality, frame rate, mobile behavior and progress persistence remain untested.

If you wanted the campaign

This destination documents multiplayer. It does not promise the original single-player campaign, and a title alone does not establish which maps or modes are included.

Sources and check limits

Checked October 13, 2026: the project entry and the @RadiantOpti links reply. This guide reports source and setup information only. We have not verified a full gameplay session, all modes, safety or every device.
